Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was only six when she made the decision to be an actor. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. When she was ten, she had performed and taken as the main character in several Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. After eight auditions consistently, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The movie broke all records on opening day and weekend sales, and it was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics, as were the performance of three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the film.
